Sharda University is a venture of the Sharda Group of Institutions at Greater Noida in Delhi (National Capital Region). The university is a privately managed organization approved by the State Legislative Assembly through Act 14 of 2009. The Act has already been assented by his Excellency the Governor of Uttar Pradesh and is operative since March 2009.

The history of the Sharda University and the sponsoring body is quite interesting. In the year 1995, when the province of Uttar Pradesh was still languishing due to inadequate capacity for engineering studies, the government cleared the way for private participation in professional education. Not many were willing to take up this challenge of creating an institution all from their own resources.  

In the year 1996, Sharda Education Trust was one among the first few Trusts who took up this challenge of providing value based professional education in the North. The first college was started in 1996 at Farah, Mathura. The leaders showed the way and others soon followed 

The group started various institutions during the next three years and in the year 2005 moved towards the Delhi (National Capital Region) which was slowly developing into an educational hub of its own. The campus at Greater Noida was thus established in the year 2005 with Engineering, Medical, Dental and Management courses.  

About Sharda University :
The University has been established by Act-14 year 2009, of the Govt. of U.P. enacted on 20th March ‘09. This paves the way for greater autonomy and flexibility in course and curriculum design, international faculty and students mix (20% regular faculty are from abroad), national and international alliances and creation of superior levels of excellence. Sharda University will start functioning from 2009 session at Greater Noida. Most of the colleges are already functional for the last few years under AICTE approval/UPTU affiliation, will now function with updated industry endorsed curriculum in line with best U.S. and U.K. Universities. 

The University is spread over a sprawling campus of 65 acres with more than 10,00,000 square feet of academic and administrative buildings in an aesthetically designed campus with seamless wi-fi connection across the campus There is on campus housing available for faculty and students which can accommodate 1500 students on campus and more than 1000 students off campus and almost 100 faculty members for a vibrant campus environment in the day and in the evenings. The university allows diverse interests of the students to be exploited through sports and recreational facilities which includes a gym, football field, cricket field, basketball, badminton, tennis and an open air theatre for almost 1000 students to watch movies and documentaries in the evenings. The campus is an ideal location for fun filled learning and tension free environment to experiment with inner talent of the students.

In a span of a little over 5 years, SU Colleges have developed infrastructure and intellectual competence necessary to deliver quality education comparable to the best in class. All SU Colleges are housed in their separate buildings in the same sprawling 63 acre campus (largest in NCR) and have integrated a host of modern facilities within its premises conducive for heathy intellectual pursuits and professional development. The lush green surroundings provide serene ambience, suitable for learning, focusing young minds in creative academic pursuits, away from the distractions of modern city life. Academic complexes house spacious lecture halls;  well stacked libraries; computer labs with the latest hardwares & softwares; well equipped labs and workshop.

The group has promoted and manages a 500 beds, Multi specialty, Sharda Hospital which is functioning since 2006 (to be raised to its full capacity of 1200 beds in phases). It is both an independent multi speciality corporate Hospital and a support base for training of  Medical/Paramedical Course students. 

Workshops and Labs

The colleges have very well equipped Workshops and lab facilities and students are encouraged to acquire application skills and practically verify the knowledge acquired in the class room. SU College labs and workshops are amongst the best equipped in the country, second only to the govt. funded IITs. Well equipped laboratories exist for physics, chemistry, applied mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and IC engines, product and process development, material testing, R&D, advanced computation, software training, telecom, micro processor, DSP, CAD, CAM etc. and are supervised by competent faculty members and instructors. Engineering workshops have the latest machine tools, robotic arms, CNC machines, welding and fabrication facilities, pattern making and foundry etc. for mechanical engineering students. Electrical lab and workshop imparts training and practical testing of electrical motors and L.T. and H.T. equipments, Switch gears, Measurements, Instrumentation. Similarly separate labs exists for all branches e.g. electronics, communication, microwave, civil & environmental engg. and in all over 100 well equipped labs and workshops exist across entire SU spectrum. 

Libraries

Libraries are the hub of academic life of the campuses. Housed in spacious halls the Libraries are well stacked with books, text books, technical journals and periodicals and reference material for more advanced research and development work. All modern aids, including online digital libraries and CDs of renowned academicians and important published material, have been made available in SU College Libraries. Libraries remain open 15 hours. a day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on all days, and upto 19-20 hours a day during examination days.

All SU colleges have multiple Auditoriums, Seminar Rooms equipped with the latest audio visual facilities for guest lectures, seminars, presentations...... 
 
 

Campus Facilities & Student amenities

The Sharda University encourages and supports students' pursuits for academic excellence and competencies development in university education. The University provides services and programs to individual students in all aspects of their student life, and works closely with student groups in enriching campus life for students. The mission is to enhance the quality of student life and student learning outcomes by making the best use of people, resources and networks for empowering students to excel in a multi cultural, diverse and global environment. Our teams in Student Life, Student Housing, Career Center, and Recreational Facilities Development & General Amenities actively work on this mission in collaboration with other university departments and student groups. In caring for students, university offers a wide spectrum of services and programs spanning across financial assistance, mentoring & counseling, personal and career development, general amenities, student activities, arts and sports.  

Transportation:

The university runs a fleet of buses for transporting students to and from the Delhi, Noida, and to other NCR areas. The exact details of routes and charges can be found out from the admission cell (Toll Free nos. listed at the end of this brochure. Public transport buses also ply to points near the campus. 

Healthcare:

Students of Sharda University have access to medical facilities within the campus as university has a world class 500 bed multi-specialty hospital with all modern medical facilities such as General medicine, ICU, Trauma centre, ECG, X-Ray and laboratory investigation.

Health insurance cover for all students is one of the additional services under active consideration. 
 

Hostel Facilities:

Separate Hostels for Boys and Girls with well furnished rooms and round the clock power back up are available in the sprawling and lush green Greater Noida campus.

Students are provided single rooms or sharing accommodation subject to availability. Preference is given to final year students and post-graduate students for occupying single room accommodation. The rooms are adequately furnished. A weekly laundry service is provided and each hostel has its own common room and cafeteria.

1500 capacity on the campus and 600 capacity off campus is available, with students having the choice of taking mess food or opting for coupons for the various food courts, restaurant and eateries on campus to have a menu of their choice. In the hostel mess, Only vegetarian food cooked in refined vegetable oil is served as per standard menu worked out in consultation with students, is economical and suits Indian taste..
