The University is a creation of a great visionary Dr. Atul Krishna, the founder President of Subharti KKB Charitable Trust, Meerut, a renowned Surgeon & a great Nationalist in true sense. It is named after a Great son of India, Swami Vivekanand whose teachings influenced the thinking of other national leaders and philosophers, like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Aurobindo Gosh and Radhakrishnan. The University came into existence on 5th September 2008 by UP Act No. 29 of 2008 and letter of Authorisation issued by the U.P. Government on 14th September 2008. It is situated on a strategic location on National Highway No. 58 Delhi-Haridwar, Meerut Bypass Road, around 50 K.M. from Delhi in a sprawling campus of about 250 Acres of land comprising of magnificent buildings, lush green lawns and an atmosphere vibrant with over 6000 people. The vast University campus houses constituent colleges, Residential Accommodation for Teaching & Non-Teaching Staff, Hostels, Boys & Girls, for Under Graduate & Postgraduate Students, huge Central Library with more than 40000 Books & 1200 Journals, large 750 Bedded Hospital with all modern medical facilities. All operations and medical care is available to the people at negligible cost, practically free.

The University offers BDS/MDS Courses in its dental college. IGNOU has designated this college as centre for PG Diploma in Oral Implantology. The College is in agreement with tuft University, Boston, USA, for student exchange programme Seven student have already visited Boston under this programme.

In medical college we have MBBS, MD, MS, M.Sc. (Medical) and Ph. D. courses. Besides this University offers BPT, MPT, B.Sc. Nursing, GNM, Post B.Sc. Nursing Courses, B. Tech., M.Tech. Bachelor and Master in Library Science, Education,  Hospital Management, Hotel Management, Graduate and Master Degree in law, M. Phil Courses, Journalism and Mass Communication, Graduate Courses in Fine Arts and Fashion Design, B. Pharma / D. Pharma and several other courses.

Chancellor of this University Dr. G.C. Srivastava is IAS (Retd.) and held important assignments like Chief Secretary, Govt. of Goa; Member Secretary, Twelfth Finance Commission in the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India; Chairman, Tariff Commission; Vice Chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal; and Secretary, Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

The Vice-Chancellor of this University Dr. V.B. Sahai, MBBS, MD, DMJ (London), LL.B, FIAFM, MBAFM (U.K.) is first Vice-Chancellor of the University who is Ex-Director General Medical Education, Uttar Pradesh and had been Ex-Principal GSVM Medical College, Kanpur & S.N. Medical College & Dean Faculty of Medicine, Agra.
